My fellow “7th trumpet rapturist” – Isaac Watts.

isaac watts

Then the seventh angel sounded; and there were loud voices in heaven, saying, “The kingdom of the world has become the kingdom of our Lord and of His Christ; and He will reign forever and ever.” (Rev. 11:15)

Fellow believers rarely believe me when I tell them that I am a “7th trumpet rapturist”. This comes from the book of Revelation. Actually, you will be convinced yourself if you read chapters 10-11 in succession. You can imagine how blessed I was when I came upon this hymn by Isaac Watts (d. 1748) “Let The Seventh Angel Sound On High”.

Watts was credited with some 650 hymns. Of course you have heard of “Joy to the World” and “When I Survey the Wondrous Cross”. Most people don’t know it but Watts wrote the words of “Joy to the World” (taken from Psalm 98) as a hymn glorifying Christ’s triumphant return at the end of the age! Can I ask you with this thought in mind to read this hymn and then read Revelation 10-11?

In Him,
Jeff Gilbertson

Let The Seventh Angel Sound On High
Let shouts be heard through all the sky;
Kings of the earth, with glad accord,
Give up your kingdoms to the Lord.

Almighty God, Thy power assume,
Who wast, and art, and art to come:
Jesus, the Lamb who once was slain,
Forever live, forever reign!

The angry nations fret and roar,
That they can slay the saints no more
On wings of vengeance flies our God,
To pay the long arrears of blood.

Now must the rising dead appear;
Now the decisive sentence hear;
Now the dear martyrs of the Lord
Receive an infinite reward.

    Ah, Those words, Then the seventh angel sounded; and there were loud voices in heaven, saying, “The kingdom of the world has become the kingdom of our Lord and of His Christ; and He will reign forever and ever.” (Rev. 11:15)

    Preceded by the angel’s words in Rev 10:7 in the days of the 7th trumpet. From that announcement through Rev chapter 19 we are in those days of the 7th trumpet. I believe HE finally takes HIS power and reigns when the great mystery (why GOD has allowed the devil to remain with access to the throne room to accuse) when the dragon is cast down to earth and barred from the throne room and then chases after Israel by killing the 2 witnesses and pursuing Israel. The exciting appearance of our LORD as a Lamb Rev 14:1 and splitting Mount of Olives making an escape route for the Jews Zephaniah… the Devil had sent out a flood of water to drown the woman (Israel)Rev 12:15,16 but the earth drank it in at the jagged crevices of that earthquake like split.Zech 14:4-5

    Our LORD, who always makes a way of escape that we may endure (i Cor 10:13), had arrived on earth again to deliver during the days (plural period of time) of the 7th trumpet. For it is clearly stated the Israel escapes and is protected for 3:1/2 years or 1,260 days Rev 12:6

    Exciting book. I want to know more for there is so much more there I have not uncovered. Really appreciated your earlier blog on the Lamb with 7 horns and 7 eyes urging us not to be afraid of symbolism..I found it accidentally while trying to see what lamb horns looked like for I am sketching (I am no artist but want to grasp what the scenes are)

    Not that my opinion matters, but I feel the rapture occurred at the time the 4 winds were being held back and the 144,000 Jews were sealed and that 2nd innumerable group of believers of every nation (Jews included) language and ethnic group appear in heaven. Revelation chapter 7. While the 144,000 are sealed to protect them for they are to stay on earth as seen by the instructions to the locusts of the 5th trumpet/ 1st woe

    Blessings my brother… which of your blogs pertain to Revelation, I sure would like to read them and perhaps glean insight.

    hugs Sharon
